When it comes to hockey, it's always very competitive in our household - especially when the Oilers are playing the Flames (Paden calls them the Flamers, so you kind of get the idea!!!) The race for playoffs in the West is pretty tight - three teams are in the hunt for the last spot... it's not looking good for the Oilers - which pleases one third of the family... and with only 82 games in the regular season, I imagine alot of the players will be in church praying for x team to beat y, which then would actually mean they didn't win to get in, someone else lost (I guess if it gets the Oilers to the playoffs, they won't be splitting hairs...
The social club at my place of work did a great job organizing the event for us...we had a bus to take us to a great little chinese place for dinner, then they took us from there to the game (which was great - saved the stress of trying to try a place to park). Then after the game they dropped us back off where our vehicles were.
Mark is in Dallas so he didn't come to the game, which he was probably thankful for since there would have been a WHOLE lot of talkin' smack. The crowd was rowdy, and after the first bunch got tossed for fighting (the fans, not the players), things settled down.
It was a long walk up to where we were sitting...you know you're up high when you can't even see the jumbo tron! So I didn't feel the least bit guilty about scarfin' down on some popcorn. Paden was very much a gentleman and treated for the snacks - I think the server was quite taken by his chivalry and manners.
It didn't take long for the trash talking/shouting to start. The chants were fast and furious with "Let's go Oilers!!" countered by 'Oilers suck!'...my boss was quite torn, he cheered for Edmonton in the first period, Calgary in the second, and wasn't sure who to cheer for in the third...LOL
It was a very late night, almost midnight before we got home, but it was alot of fun and Paden was quite happy with the end result. Needless to say, we weren't moving to quick this morning. Man, I love jammie days!
Oh! I almost forgot! The Oilers did win the game - 2 to 1.
