There Oughta Be A Law....

Bear with me - I'm venting.

I love the holiday season...really and truly...I just don't think it should start until December 1.
Christmas decorations were being nudged in with the Halloween costumes, I mean really, c'mon...
This week, Christmas music on the radio...seriously! I love Bing, don't diss the Bingster, but please, I don't want to hear ' Mellikalikimucka' until December~! That and Elvis singing Blue Christmas, and Johnny Mathis, and Little Eva...yikes!

Call me a Scrooge, but one month of Christmas is about all I can take.

In Flander's Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.

Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

John McCrae

Lest we forget.

My Grandfather will never forget, and neither will anyone in our family forget the sacrifices made by men and women such as my grandfather. We are truly blessed that he was able to return home when so many did not. As a mother, my heart goes out to the women at that time who were left behind waiting for news of loved ones; fathers, brothers, husbands and sons - and for those mothers who with pride and heavy hearts stand at the cenitaphs in the hope that their loved ones did not die in vain.

Sleeee-pyyyyy

I'm finishing up my bowl of cereal when I hear, 'you're getting sleeeepyyyy, verrry sleeepppyyy....'
Hmmm, I think to myself - what is going on?

I come around the corner to Paden holding a pen light, swinging it back in forth in front of our cat Comet... 'whatcha doin bud?' I ask...

'I'm trying to hippnatize the cat!' like I should have know better than to ask.

The funny thing was that Comet was being totally indulgent with him, as the pen swung, so did the cat's head... back and forth back and forth....

Yikes, now I'm the one getting sleeee-ppppy..... LOL

Are You My Conscience?

Mark told me the funniest thing today...
This week, while I was in a store getting somethingorother, Mark and Paden were sitting in the truck.

Paden turns to Mark and asks him, 'Are you my conscience?'
Mark, not quite knowing what to say, says 'No, but that's an interesting question...why do you ask?'

To which Paden replies,'Well, I was about to do something the other day, and all of a sudden in my head I heard you and Mom say "Don't even think about it!" so I didn't do it.'

Yep. That's your conscience alright~
